The California Raisins: The Grape Escape is a California Raisins video game developed by Radiance for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Capcom planned to publish the game in 1990 but its release was canceled due to the California Raisins' dwindling popularity because of the decline in raisin sales in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Gameplay[edit]

Gameplay
In the single-player side-scrolling action game the player controls a California Raisin through five stages in an effort to rescue the band and their band's musical notes that were stolen by the gang of jealous musicians. The player can walk, jump, climb on vines, moonwalk (by pressing the 'select' button) and shoot an unlimited supply of grape jelly beans as projectiles. During each level the player can collect 'I' icons that provide temporary invincibility, regular black musical notes for bonus points, 'Sunshine' icons to restore health, and 'Raisinette' icons to give an extra life to the player. One can also locate items by shooting at the thin air or at columns.
As was the case with other Capcom games, such as Mega Man and DuckTales, one can play the first four levels in any order, but the final level is only available after collecting the musical notes from each of the four levels. The first four levels include The Grape Vine, The Factory, The Maize Maze and The Juicery. The final level takes place in The Clouds.
Cancellation[edit]
The game was canceled due to the California Raisins dwindling popularity because of the downfall sales of raisins in the late 1980s/early 1990s. The game appeared to have been largely finished as it was given a full review, along with hints, by the 'Game Player's Encyclopedia of Nintendo Games Vol. 3.' Flyers included with Capcom NES games released around 1990 also included the title as an upcoming game.
Legacy[edit]
The beta cartridge for the game was sold for around a thousand dollars.[1]

The Grape Escape Board Game
Grape Escape 1.3 is out, and it's a big one! It has CG (game over animations), dialogue from Grape Stomp-chan, and much more! Patrons in the Small tier can play it right now, as well as any new releases in the time that you're joined. :)
Hello everyone! I'd like to thank you all for your patience! It's been a bit of a slow process, but Grape Escape v1.2 is finished, and patrons in the Small tier can play it right now! Once the game is fully complete, it will be available to the public. Dice games for money. :)
XD Nice XD
well the game is nice but can you add a left foot the only foot thats comming down is just the right foot so that a think that i would like to change but everything else is ok you could also make lvl were you need to reach 50 ml in the first lvl and duble the ml per lvl
This is a great game! I like it very much! But I’m wondering, can I win in it?
Thank you, I'm glad you like it! As of right now, there is no way to win. It's more of a contest to see who can get the highest score (the mL in the upper left). An upgrade system with an ending is planned, however, so stay tuned for that!
Thank you! More features are coming, so stay tuned!
The game is almost playable on mobile devices. The game runs and you can start but there is no way to move left or right on mobile, also if you hit settings the x button is too high to hit for devices that are longer like mine. Also adding a mute music button would be nice. Great little game but only 100% playable on pcs.
Wow, I'm surprised the game even made it that far! I've only built it for PC and web, so I'll see if I can get it to work on mobile with some build settings and added control options for touch screen. I've never worked with mobile before, so I can't promise it'll work. ^ ^;

And thanks for pointing out the search issue! Casino game online roulette. I had its search settings set to hidden while I was testing the web version before launch, and I forgot to switch it back to visible. It should appear in searches now. :)
